ACT Math 22–26 band

Mastering algebra and breaking into geometry and intermediate items.

What's actually holding you back here

In the 22–26 band, you have the basics but are losing points to mid-section algebra and geometry items. The fix is to push medium-item accuracy from ~50% to ~80%, which alone is worth several composite points.

The three highest-leverage topics for this band

  1. Intermediate Algebra — Quadratic and function notation items are where the medium gains live.
  2. Plane Geometry — Circles, polygons, and area items at medium difficulty are very drillable.
  3. Coordinate Geometry — Slope and distance items are usually mid-difficulty and underdrilled.

The plan

Four-week plan: two weeks on Intermediate Algebra, one week on Plane Geometry, one week on Coordinate Geometry. Take a timed test at the end of each week and focus the next week on whichever topic ate the most missed points.

What success looks like

Success looks like a 27 on the next practice test.

What to skip

Skip the hardest trigonometry items (graphs, transformations) for now and skip any item that takes you longer than 90 seconds even with the solution in front of you — that subtopic needs foundation review, not test drilling.
