ACT Math · Score band
ACT Math 30–36 band
Eliminating careless errors and mastering the hardest items.
What's actually holding you back here
In the 30–36 band, content gaps are negligible. Missed points come from careless errors and from one or two trick items per test that use a non-obvious method.
The three highest-leverage topics for this band
- Trigonometry — Where the trick items live. Drill the hardest items per subtopic.
- Intermediate Algebra — Sequences and harder function items separate the 32 from the 35.
- Plane Geometry — Multi-step area and 3-D items at hard difficulty.
The plan
Three-week plan: one week of hard-item drilling on the three subtopics with the highest error rate, one week of full-test pacing with detailed error-cause logging, one week of light review and rest.
What success looks like
Success looks like a 35. The 35 → 36 last point is mostly variance — most 35 students score 36 on the real test about a third of the time.
What to skip
Skip any easy or medium subtopic. Skip new content. At this band, you should be polishing.
